nutrition therapy in Decatur, IL

My role in your journey to optimal health, is to focus on your unique needs, in order to bring your body back to a state of balance. This balance can be achieved through lifestyle changes, nutrient-dense foods, and at times, supplements.

As a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner, I will utilize a unique approach of evaluating the six foundations of health, which are instrumental in your healing. These foundations include:

  1. The importance of a properly prepared, nutrient-dense diet
  2. Digestion
  3. Blood Sugar Balance
  4. Essential Fatty Acid Balance
  5. Mineral Balance
  6. Hydration

Keeping these foundations in balance and supported is key to true wellness. If you have been experiencing hormonal problems, thyroid issues, adrenal stress, or just have not been feeling your best, taking a deep look into each of the foundations of health, may give you an idea of where you and I should begin our focus.

The Importance of a Properly Prepared Nutrient-Dense Diet

In our modern world, we rely more and more on the quick fixes of caffeine, sweets, and ready-to-eat meals. As we move through our busy lives, the depletion of needed vitamins and minerals have left us tired, stressed, and heavier than any other generation before us.

In an 18-year study, researchers at the NYU School of Global Public Health found that people across nearly all demographic groups, regardless of income, increased their consumption of ultra-processed foods, putting themselves at risk of obesity and chronic disease.

If processed foods have become a crutch in getting you through the day, we will work together to find ways to incorporate whole foods into your diet. This will be in the form of vegetables, legumes, fruits, meats, and eggs. If dairy and whole grains are not a problem for you, we will include those also, in moderation.

These nutrient-dense foods will provide your body with minerals, vitamins, carbohydrates, fats, and proteins. All of which are needed for improved health.

In our next nutritional wellness blog post, we will discuss the important role of digestion and optimal gut health.
